Best Spot to Watch Sydney NYE Fireworks

Sydney city always has fireworks display on New Year's Eve every year. If you are planning to see fireworks, you should start decide which place to go. 

There are many places has beautiful view facing to Harbour Bridge and many of them are free.

The list below are some of the free places to see Sydney New Year’s Eve fireworks:
  • Bradfield Park (Alfred Street, North Sydney), this place is too close to the bridge.
  • Blues Point Reserve (Blues Point Road, McMahons Point)
  • Mary Booth Lookout (Waruda Avenue, Kirribilli)
  • Dawes Point Park (Hickson Road, The Rocks), this place is too close to the bridge.
  • Campbells Cove (Hickson Road, Sydney)
  • The Rocks (Hickson Road, Sydney)
  • First Fleet Park (George Street, The Rocks)
  • Circular Quay
  • Tarpeian Precint (Tarpien Way, Macquarie Street, Sydney)
  • Sydney Opera House. I love this spot and I always enjoy here.
  • Balls Head Reserve (Balls Head Road, Waverton)
  • Mrs Macquaries Point (Mrs Macquaries Road, Sydney). This place is too many big trees. You need to go to the front area to get the best view.
  • And still many other places, but they are a bit too far.

No matter which place you go, it always better to be there as early as possible. Some people even try to be there a day before just want to get the best spot. 

9 o’clock firework is good for family with small kids, so you don’t have to wait until midnight to see the fireworks. After 9 o’clock firework finish, you can take the kids home and watch live broadcast midnight fireworks from TV at home.

If you prefer to pay some money, there are many places that offer New Year’s Eve party with the best view.

You can book a hotel room that has the view facing to Harbour Bridge if possible. Or you also can join the cruise for New Year's Eve dinner party. 

It will be very crowded on New Year’s Eve. If you don’t like that situation, you still can enjoy the fireworks from your own home by watching New Year’s Eve fireworks live broadcast on the TV. 

Prepare, so you can have a safe and the best view on New Year’s Eve.

Sydney Tower

If you visit Sydney city, you will see very high tower, this tower is called Sydney Tower (formerly known as AMP Tower or Centrepoint Tower). This tower height is 309 meters from the ground to the very top.

I personally really enjoy Sydney Tower revolving buffet restaurant. This restaurant offers a wide variety of foods. I spent my time with my family here and we really enjoy the foods at this restaurant. We love the experience because while we enjoy our foods, we also enjoy the view. You can see Opera House, Sydney Harbour Bridge, the ships sailing on the sea and the whole Sydney city from the height of 250 meters above the ground and 360 degree view. It's an absolutely unique dining experience.

Darling Harbour

Darling Harbour is located on the western side of Sydney city with beautiful waterfront location and very popular destination for Sydney siders, local visitors as well as international tourists.

Darling Harbour is designed for walking area so in most of part is car-free area. Darling Harbour is a busy and famous recreational centre that brings a lot of visitors from all over the world.

Many of Sydney most exciting attractions are located in Darling Harbour. You will find so many interesting things to do for the whole family at Darling Harbour. A lot of Sydney's attractions and facilities to choose from such as:

The Australian National Maritime Museum offers indoor and outdoor attraction. This is really good entertainment for everyone especially for the family.

Australian National Maritime Museum is located on the western side of Darling Harbour. The address is 2 Murray Street, Darling Harbour, Sydney NSW 2000, Australia. The location is really strategies. It's not far from the CBD and it's in the attraction area of waterfront Darling Harbour.

You will notice the building structure of Australian National Maritime Museum is very unique with a roofline like waves and sails.

This is actually a great museum, it has variety of exhibits about maritime.

Chinatown in Sydney is really unique and worthwhile experience for everyone especially for tourists. You will find a lot of Chinese culture offering some of the best Chinese festivals, history, oriental architecture, Chinese shops, street lanterns and Chinese food.

Sydney Chinatown is basically similarly to other Chinatowns in other cities of the world. It’s always great for bargain shopping and eating.

You will see a lot of traditional shops and restaurants in there. Also you will find shopping malls, food courts, and bakery. Yum Cha restaurants and food court always busy in Sydney Chinatown. I and my family visited Paddy’s Market for a few times. Mostly we buy fruits, because the price is really cheap. Also we bought some Australia souvenirs to give to our overseas friends. The prices are so good, a lot of variety of products.

Today, I want to share my experience about Imax Theatre Sydney at Darling Harbour

I took my family to see a 3D movie at Imax Theatre Sydney. My kids are so happy. It is amazing, beautiful experience, because the screen is huge. IMAX is the greatest movie experience.


The IMAX Theatre building is very noticeable using yellow and black checkerboard style on the building gives Imax theatre a unique characteristic.

Imax theatre using crystal clear images and the screen is ten times bigger compared to the standard movie theatre appearance plus the digital surround sound make the sound come from every corner of the room.

Imax theatre is the world's biggest cinema screen with size at 29.42 meters high by 35.73 meters wide. The height is up to eight storeys building high. Imax theatre has 540 seats capacity.

Watch spectacular 2D and 3D movies on the World's biggest theatre screen. Watch the highest quality movie with massive screen and collection of several movies including documentary movie, it's really give the best experience for everyone.

Sydney Aquarium


Sydney Aquarium is definitely recommended as one among the greatest place to visit in Sydney. It is one of Sydney's the most popular attractions. A vacation to Sydney Aquarium has always been great activity for family, especially for the kids.

Sydney Aquarium located on the eastern side of Darling Harbour and next to Wild Life Sydney.

A lot of people visit Sydney Aquarium everyday. Family, tour and school students. And many tourists too, local and overseas tourists.

Approximately 650 species consisting of more than 12,000 fish and water creatures. 

The best part at Sydney Aquarium is walking through under water see-through tunnel where you can see many sharks from small to huge sharks. They swim quietly on top of you. You will see many other big fish too including massive stingrays and giant turtles.

Dugongs, penguins, jellyfish, a lot of colourful fish and the largest Great Barrier Reef display in the world. The variety of water creature is really amazing.

Make sure you have the opportunity to get hands-on with the touch pools. Kids really love this activity.

Chinese Garden

Chinese Garden also known as Chinese Garden of Friendship is actually located in the middle of Sydney city at Southern end of Darling Harbour close to Sydney Entertainment Centre and Sydney Chinatown.

Chinese Garden specially designed and built by Chinese landscape architects and gardeners. The Garden is literally governed by the Taoist principals associated with Yin Yang and also the five elements: water, fire, earth, wood and metal.

The gardens were formally launched in 1988 and this garden was called the Garden of Friendship which represents the link established between Guangzhou in China and Sydney in Australia.

Travel along the snaky pathways as they take you through private courtyards and also traditional pagoda design pavilions.

Taronga Zoo is the zoo that situated on the spectacular Sydney Harbour, located at Bradleys Head Road in the suburb of Mosman, which is actually not far from Sydney city.

Taronga zoo officially opened on 7 October 1916.

To get there, you can catch a bus from Wynyard bus station in the City to Main entrance of Taronga Zoo. It only takes around half an hour. We also can use ferry from Circular Quay, it only takes about 12 minutes ride. Or if you drive, there is a carpark building for a fee.

Taronga Zoo is open every single day of the year including Christmas Day. The business hours is from 9:00am to 5:00pm, except on 31 December (New Year’s Eve) the opening hour from 9:00am to 4:00pm.

The location of Taronga zoo is really special due to the fact it is situated on higher land with the view of spectacular Sydney Harbour overlooking the Harbour Bridge and the Opera House.

While you see all the animals at Taronga Zoo, you certainly will also enjoy the harbour views. There is ferry terminal just a cross Taronga Zoo, so you only need to step off the boat and walk directly into the zoo.

I prefer to start the walk from the main entrance adjacent to the carpark building. The first reason is really because we intend to walk downhill, therefore we are not too tired.  The second reason is while we walk downhill that’s mean we are facing to the harbour, so we can easily see the beauty of Sydney Harbour, we also can see Harbour Bridge, high rise building in the city, as well as Opera House. When you reach the bottom you can go back to the top by Sky Safari Cable Car. Use of the Sky Safari Cable Car is included in the ticket price.

Sydney Opera House

Sydney Opera House is considered to be Sydney's best known landmark and became one of the world’s iconic buildings as well as one of the most famous performing arts venues in the world.

Sydney Opera House is located at Bennelong Point, Circular Quay East.

Experience Sydney Opera House one of the world's most artistic and busiest cultural movement and greatest of modern architecture.

To get there, I prefer to use public transport. We can take a train to Circular Quay train station or take a Ferry to Circular Quay Ferry Terminal or we can take a bus or taxi.

From Circular Quay, it's actually only a few minutes’ walk to Sydney Opera House. If you drive, there is public car park for a fee at Sydney Opera House.
