Taronga Zoo

Taronga Zoo is the zoo that situated on the spectacular Sydney Harbour, located at Bradleys Head Road in the suburb of Mosman, which is actually not far from Sydney city.

Taronga zoo officially opened on 7 October 1916.

To get there, you can catch a bus from Wynyard bus station in the City to Main entrance of Taronga Zoo. It only takes around half an hour. We also can use ferry from Circular Quay, it only takes about 12 minutes ride. Or if you drive, there is a carpark building for a fee.

Taronga Zoo is open every single day of the year including Christmas Day. The business hours is from 9:00am to 5:00pm, except on 31 December (New Year’s Eve) the opening hour from 9:00am to 4:00pm.

The location of Taronga zoo is really special due to the fact it is situated on higher land with the view of spectacular Sydney Harbour overlooking the Harbour Bridge and the Opera House.

While you see all the animals at Taronga Zoo, you certainly will also enjoy the harbour views. There is ferry terminal just a cross Taronga Zoo, so you only need to step off the boat and walk directly into the zoo.

I prefer to start the walk from the main entrance adjacent to the carpark building. The first reason is really because we intend to walk downhill, therefore we are not too tired.  The second reason is while we walk downhill that’s mean we are facing to the harbour, so we can easily see the beauty of Sydney Harbour, we also can see Harbour Bridge, high rise building in the city, as well as Opera House. When you reach the bottom you can go back to the top by Sky Safari Cable Car. Use of the Sky Safari Cable Car is included in the ticket price.
